DIABETES TREATMENT

Even dogs and cats can suffer from diabetes.

The indicative symptoms are:

–  increased thirst,

–  increased urination,

–  skin problems,

–  weight loss despite eating a lot (dog),

–  or loss of appetite (cat).

If you are concerned that your pet is affected by diabetes, a blood test will reveal further

evidence.

In general, the pet’s body lacks the required amount of insulin to control blood sugar levels and therefore, insulin must be supplied by injection.

An injection is usually required once daily for dogs, and twice daily for cats.

This will mean a lot of changes for you and your pet.

Your days will need a regular schedule in order to provide the injection at specific times.

Exceptions in time have a narrow range.

Rest assured that the effort is worth the trouble, and your pet will thank you with renewed vitality!

We will guide you through the complicated early days until the correct insulin dosage is found for your animal.  We’ll also teach you exactly how to administer the injection in the right way, and can help you a number of times until you feel comfortable with the procedure.

In the further course of the disease, we will be by your side re-evaluating the status of your pet.
